This collection of replica historic maps of Petersfield and surrounding area has been copied to full size and colour and is suitable for handling. Each map has also been produced on tracing paper so it can be used as an overlay for a modern Ordinate Survey map. The pack contains a CD with digital images of each map.
Ideas for using this pack:
- Use the old maps as overlays for a current OS map to identify which buildings have changed and which have stayed the same.
- Compare the old maps with a current OS map to show how the built area has expanded.
- Look at the development of maps over time by comparing the earliest replica maps to the modern maps.
- Print off copies of the old maps and use them in project work.
- Look at the map that has been cut up, why do you think it was cut like this?
