HELP WRITE A POEM FOR PETERSFIELD, BY PETERSFIELD

Your words are wanted – donate a line (or two)!

What is your favourite memory of Petersfield? What is your favourite place, favourite sound or taste or smell? How would you describe Petersfield to an alien? Or in just three words? What colour is Petersfield, what shape, what bird?

We are very excited to bring you the first completed works from our current Creative Resident, Ellora Sutton.

'Fine Though Sometimes Broken' is a crown of free verse sonnets, inspired by Ellora's time studying and learning about Edward and Helen Thomas in the Museum's Edward Thomas Study Centre. In a crown of sonnets, each poem ends with the first line of the next poem in the sequence, creating a chain. For the first and final lines of these poems Ellora has quoted or paraphrased from the works of Edward and Helen Thomas.

We are very excited to introduce you to Ellora Sutton, our new Creative in Residence.

Hampshire poet, Ellora Sutton, is the first, of what is hoped to be a series of creative residents where a wide range of different and exciting artists, poets, musicians, and other creatives are invited to explore the Museum’s collections and stories and create something new!
The work produced by these residencies will allow the Museum to share our collections and stories with more people in new and exciting ways.

When Paula Rego reads her favourite books, she imagines that she is one of the characters. In her artwork, she changes the story to suit her purposes. In celebration of Rego's upcoming exhibition at Petersfield Museum and inspired by her process, we are launching an art competition for local artists. Please see details at the bottom of this page for how to enter your submission.
