We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our Round 2 Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) bid has been successful!
This £1,318,000 grant will allow us to progress as planned with our £2.56m redevelopment programme Pathways into the Past. This project aims to complete the transformation of the old Petersfield Police Station and Courthouse into a dynamic community-focused museum, Victorian Justice Heritage complex and hub for the South Downs National Park.
Our new exhibition and activity plans will enable visitors and local residents to learn about the fascinating stories of Petersfield and its surrounding villages. Groups and schools can use new galleries and creative spaces in a variety of ways to engage with and learn from the Museum and our collections.
But, things don’t stop here…this is just the beginning!
Alongside the HLF grant, the Museum has also been working hard to raise the £1.2m needed in matched funding. We have raised over three quarters of this sum so far, with just under £300k left to find. Generous gifts from local trusts, individuals and Petersfield Town Council have helped us on our way to reaching this target, but we need your help to get over the line.
There are a number of ways you can help, from attending any of our fundraising events being held throughout the year, donating to name a brick which will take pride of place in the new Museum entrance or courtyard (for businesses), or even signing up to our Scales of Giving on any level from Police Constable to Supreme High Court Judge!
Thank you for your continued support and well done everyone who has been involved to date – all those long days and short nights have been worthwhile.
