Based on the recollections of a platoon Sergeant, this is the remarkable story of the 1/9th (Cyclist) Battalion, Hampshire Regiment. A battalion of the pre 1914 Territorial Army, with a career lasting from its raising in 1911 to its disbandment in 1920. A career notable during the First World War for the number of miles traversed throughout the world by the Hampshire Cyclists in their efforts to make contact with the enemy. The Battalion’s final adventures in support of the anti-Bolshevik forces in Siberia in 1919 were among the most remarkable episodes of the war.
