Walk in the footsteps of the First World War poet Edward Thomas, in this special walk running as part of Petersfield Museum's Edward Thomas Literary Festival and East Hampshire's Creative Footsteps Festival.

Starting in the village of Steep where he lived with his family, this walk will visit Thomas’s memorial the Poet’s Stone on Shoulder of Mutton Hill above the village. Led by Edward Thomas experts and enthusiasts, the walk will include readings of both Edward’s prose and poetry, bringing to life his words in the locations that inspired them. Participants will get a fascinating insight into his life and works and how nature and the local countryside inspired his writing.

The walk includes rough terrain and steep inclines so stout footwear is advised.

This walk starts from the Bedales School carpark, Church Road, Steep, GU32 2DG. Safety briefing will be held at 1015am and the walk will depart at 1030am.
