Independent enquiry
This workshop is designed to engage your students in examining a range of artefacts and documents that would have been in the homes of Petersfield residents. Their mission is to find evidence about key aspects of the everyday wartime life and evacuees' stories. Learn about rationing, blackouts, air raids and more.
Knowledge and understanding:

We explore the chronology of key events of World War II. This will include the preparations for war and the ongoing effects on the home front.
Further object-based handling will add greater understanding in the palm of their hands.
Real Stories, Real Lives:
This workshop looks at the experiences of evacuees who called Petersfield home during the wartime upheaval. Explore the narratives of both evacuees and the individuals who opened their homes, creating a connection to the personal side of this historical chapter.
Unveiling Rationing Realities:
What was rationing really like? How much chocolate was allowed? Imagine a world where bananas were a rarity. These questions and more come to life as we explore the intricacies of rationing during wartime. Students will not only learn about the policies but will also engage in thought-provoking discussions about the daily challenges faced by families during this period.
