If you are looking to meet new people, gain new skills, give back to the community, or just try something different then volunteering at Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery might just be for you!
Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery was established by volunteers back in 1999 and today they continue to play a vital role in everything we do. From greeting our visitors at the Welcome Desk and ensuring they have the best experience possible to looking after our collections and helping to create amazing events, volunteers are the lifeblood of the Museum and Art Gallery.
We believe that it is important to give back to our volunteers for all the hard work they do. All of our volunteers are supported in their role by a friendly team of staff and trustees, alongside gaining access to some great benefits including free Museum and Art Gallery entry, discounted event tickets, savings in our Shop, and much more.
Current Volunteer Roles:
Creative Engagement Volunteer: We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help make our creative events welcoming and engaging. You don’t need to be a professional artist—just someone passionate about creativity and community. As a Creative Engagement Volunteer, you’ll help participants feel comfortable and inspired by greeting attendees, sparking conversation, and offering gentle encouragement.
Family Engagement Volunteer: We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help make our family-focused events engaging and inclusive. As a Family Engagement Volunteer, you’ll support activities like Mischief Makers, Creative Saturdays, and Retro Games Days—setting up materials, encouraging participation, and ensuring families feel welcome as they explore, learn, and play together.
Maintenance Volunteer: We’re looking for practical and hands-on volunteers to help with small maintenance tasks around the museum. From fixing minor repairs to keeping our public and behind-the-scenes spaces in good condition, your support will help ensure that visitors and staff enjoy a well-maintained and welcoming environment.
Gardening/Grounds Volunteer: We’re looking for green-fingered volunteers to help maintain our beautiful outdoor spaces, ensuring they remain welcoming and enjoyable for visitors. Our courtyard and garden areas provide a peaceful setting for relaxation and creativity, and with your help, we can keep them looking their best all year round.
