Set sail with Spinnaker Shanty with the kick-off of our summer Live Music events hosted in the Courtyard of Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery. Straight from Portsmouth, these seafaring troubadours blend traditional and original sea songs and shanties with harmony and humor. Get your sea legs ready for an evening of rollicking tunes and maritime magic.
Please note: this is an outside music event and will take place in all but dangerous conditions (forked lightening, hurricane force winds). Temporary cover will be supplied in adverse weather conditions.
About Spinnaker Shanty
Spinnaker Shanty came into being to perform a prestigious gig aboard HMS Victory, Portsmouth in October 2017. Since then, after some personnel changes, we are now a quartet of three male voices and one female.
We often sing sea-related material that may be slightly distanced from the standard shanty work songs: forebitters or settings of nautical poems, though we can be enticed, with the right audience, to belt out the crowd-pleasers too. Shanties are so catchy.
We sing mainly in our local folk clubs near Portsmouth and have a monthly residency in a bar in nearby Gosport.
